What Exactly Was Stolen?

Today, I see the Notre Dame cathedral  in Paris burn. I feel sad that so much history is being destroyed. I marvel at what humans could build in 1160. We have all the technology today but nothing we have build in the last 50 years can compare to the Notre Dame. The cathedral was finished in 1345 and this date struck me right between the eyes. Why? Well, it’s more than 300 years before the dutch settlers came to South Africa. Our ancestors would only arrive in 1645. What baffles me is that when old Jan and his “volk” came to South Africa, it was wild and untamed with natives running around in loincloths, yet in Paris, 300 years before, this cathedral was completed. So…Mister Malema and friends, what exactly did the white man steal from you? How did our ancestors build massive buildings with ridiculous detail and yet NO development of any sort was happening in South Africa? I’ve been trying to find some answers all morning, trying to understand how one society could progress while another seems to stay stuck in the stone age. And today, in 2019…nothing has changed.

Autumn Highlands Holidays – Frogging at Mahai — de Wets Wild

We recently started nurturing more than a passing interest in South Africa’s different kinds of amphibians, adding another fascinating facet to our enjoyment of our natural heritage. When we visited the Royal Natal National Park in March the trout dam at Mahai proved an excellent spot to go looking for frogs and toads, and other […]

Cyclone Idai: Shit, meet fan.

It’s been almost two weeks since cyclone Idai slammed into the port city of Beira and created an inland ocean. Wiping out entire villages, leaving hundreds dead and thousands homeless and without food or water. Idai showed the world what happens when you leave a corrupt government unchecked. As Idai passed, there wasn’t any aid or help rushing in from the government of Mozambique. Instead, this African country turned to the west to beg for help. Neighboring Zimbabwe was also hit hard with survivors telling tales of villages and growth-points that disappeared in the blink of an eye. And as we all sat in horror watching these events unfold, it became clear that there wasn’t enough help coming. South-Africa was (still is) facing a energy crisis and the only help that came from them was in the form of non-government organizations and private donations. The world needs to face the truth, African governments only care about their own pockets and not the people. China is colonizing Africa, sending fleets to fish of the Mozambican coast and cutting down thousands of trees only to export them but to this day has not give one cent of aid to the people of the very country they are stripping clean.

It breaks my heart to see the clips of people desperately trying to get out of the water with babies and children on their backs or fighting each other for food. And realizing that this is only the beginning. Take a good hard look folks, this is the future of not only Africa but the world. We do not have enough resources in Africa to help ourselves let alone each other (S.A has yet to send proper aid to Zimbabwe). This will become the norm in the world. More storm will come, less help will be available and thousands will lose their lives. I salute all the organizations for sending aid to Africa but let’s face it, it’s like trying to plug a dam using toothpaste.

And a side note to the BLF who said whites created cyclone Idai and must thus pay…I have yet to your “people” rushing to help those affected by the cyclone. A lot of light skins running around helping people. This should not be about race but I’m just saying.

I’m deeply sorry for those who lost so much but this is our new normal. As we keep destroying the earth, over populating her and pushing resources to the max more storms will come. More natural disaster will hit us until balance is restored. Unless we actively start to do something about it. Say no to greedy governments like China, stop playing politics and stand up to our own corrupt governments, demand that retailers respect nature and stop using plastic, pump the brakes on live as we know it.

Spiritual Coddling En Hoe Om Dit Nie Te Doen.

Want as ek jou aan vat dan gooi ek my “peace out of balance”. Jip. Regtig.

Nee Rainbow Moonwolf Fairyfucker, jy is 28 jaar oud en bly steeds by jou ma. Ek kan my kop verloor as mense iets sê soos

Love and light. Blessings”

EK.HET.MY.SHIT.VERLOOR.

Almal is deesdae fairies (so voel dit).

Maklik.

For Fans of The Sims

We at the Simsburton Post are interested in seeking writer talent for our Facebook Page. We started out small–a handful of writers in a small town, doing whatever it took to get the story. But now, as Simsburton grows–we realize that there’s just so much out there to cover, we need more folks–like you–to get the big stories that face the residents of Simsburton every day!!
We cover each of the Districts associated with Simsburton and feature highlights from as many angles as we can. MidgeChats! was our first featured news piece that really got Simsburton on the map and covered some of the more colorful folks associated with our little corner of the world. Midge Perkins, our Page 2 writer and Co-Editor of the paper, made it a point to feature each person as intimately as they’d allow–with only minor hiccups.

SimsTube is Simsburton’s answer to YouTube, and offers a fresh look into the lives of the residents who live and work in our community. Wedding Engagements, amazing School Projects, and other such diverse clips are peppered into SimsTube to give even further insight into who we are–and it’s not always sunshine and rainbows.
Our Newest Segment–HandySims is a slow burn, but it’s gaining in popularity and is used to showcase local architectural talent in the city. In the HandySims segment we visit a local community lot and feature some of our favorite discoveries on the property, as well as a generous promotion to the Architect’s business page (their TS4 gallery page).
We give the facts and leave nothing to the shadows. A recent expose shed light on unfair and illegal practices by the Government to “out” our protected news sources. We fought that, and won! We may be a small paper, but we bite too!

This is the kind of book that we should be reading to our kids. Instead of telling our kids about a prince saving a princess, we should be telling them about people saving the world. Even if it’s one tree at a time.
